Explain ExtremeCloud Virtual Appliance Demo mode

Hey,

Can someone explain what exactly “Mobility” means in the following scenario concerning VE6120 virtual appliance:

Unlicensed — (DEMO) When the appliance is not licensed, it operates in demo mode. In demo
mode, you can operate as many devices as you want, subject to the maximum limit of the platform
type. In demo mode, you can use only the b/g radio, with channels 6 and 11. 11n support and Mobility
are disabled in demo mode.

What will be the exact features that are unavailable?

Thanks.

The demo is out of the box with no licenses added and is restricted to what you stated above.  For a full evaluation, you would want to test with the Eval key. Evals are 30 days, if you go through an Extreme Partner you can get it for 180 days.

One should however add that you can’t just download the appliance, you HAVE to get an EVAL key first. So the usual workflow would be to EVAL and after that it falls back to DEMO I guess.

Ok, so there is no “Demo” with restricted feature set. Instead there is a 90 day eval using the full feature set?

Hello,

Mobility the feature selection allows you to maintain the same address if you were passing across multiple controller pairs. Between just two controllers that are paired together, mobility happens by default without any settings.

Customers with Extreme Portal access can request an EVAL key - https://gtacknowledge.extremenetworks.com/articles/How_To/000039345

This will help you get a license while you try it out.
