What Topology is used when WDS is activated?

What Topology is used when WDS is activated?

HI,

we will aktivate WDS on some 3610 AP with 5 running VNS on it and 4110 Controller to connect a few little different WLAN Router in WDS Client Bridge Mode to connect some none cabling Offices to our Network.

I didn't know what Topology use the 3610 AP in Parent Mode when WDS will assigned?

I can't select the Topology like on an Standart WLAN Service.

Is in that Situation the Default Action Setting in VNS Configuration->Global->Global Default Role Configuration the correct Setting?

Isn't there any authentication available?

Thx

Thomas

I just rephrase what Ronald already answered.

all traffic what enters the "parent AP" on the wired port will go through WDS link to "child AP(s)". If the wired port is enabled on the child AP (wds bridge) then that traffic will egress the child AP on the wired port.

of course if the traffic entering parent AP should go to the wireless client, it will not be sent out to the wired port.

in other words it does simulate wired link.

Ahh, thanx to comments.

That's what i missing/missunderstood.

So i have Limit neccessary VLAN on the Wire to the parent AP.

Hi Thomas,

- there is no topology for a WDS, you just need to create a WDS WLAN Service
- WDS works only between the controller AP models

Please read either the WDS chapter in the user guide or open the controller GUI and go to your new WDS and click help - the online help will go directly to the WDS chapter with a great example.

If there are questions left please let us know.
