AP-7612 virtual controller redundancy

AP-7612 virtual controller redundancy

Hi!

I have an issue concerning dynamic virtual controller. I have 3 devices of AP-7612 model (wing version is similar on all devices: 7.3).

According to

https://extremeportal.force.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000080546

I want to implement this feature.  Unfortunately, I don’t have Auto Election option on GUI. Although I have found that this device is running enterprise UI only that should allow do this.

Thus, what’s wrong?

About topology:

3 devices obtain ip addresses by dhcp from range 192.168.1.0/24

for all devices I configure mode as:

  1. Virtual Controller auto, management vlan 1, management ip 192.168.1.15
  1. Bridge mode
  1. Tagged (1) interface on switch between all devices

As I know management ip will be obtained by the most prioritize device and will be set as secondary ip. Am I right?

Dear Daneil,

It’s sounds pretty terrible. As my last request, does the appropriate document with redundancy support exist?

How can I ensure that device supports this individually? Any notes, documents? Thanks in advance!

Hi Matvey,

Thanks for your prompt answer. If the CLI and GUI does not allow you to change any parameters from the virtual controller management interface it because this is not supported for this platform either. Going to review the article and modify it accordingly once I have full confirmation from Engineering.

Dear Daniel,

Firstly thanks a lot for your reply.

What concerning to CLI, I have the following entered:

enable

config terminal

profile ap7612 default-ap7612

virtual-controller ?

<cr>

Means that device missed configuration about virtual-controller.

As I know, if I enter just “virtual-controller” command - my device will be set as virtual controller. It’s similar option to GUI interface “Set as a virtual controller”

Merry Christmas and happy New Year!
