HTML5 Questions

Hello community,

I see that the WING 7.6.3 was release and it includes the new HTML5 GUI.

Several questions:

  1. For now, the new GUI is available only on controllers. It will be available also on WING7 APS ?
  2. I see that the new GUI is need a tons of fixes and lost features. We will receive any new features in future releases?
  3. As a Extreme partner I really don’t see any serious additions or features from WING 5 to WING7 (only new devices was added). When I running any installation of WING 7 - VX9000 I still see - “Running WING5 wizard” c330c482ed1c4934900de500c58a37ba_1f602.pngc330c482ed1c4934900de500c58a37ba_1f602.pngc330c482ed1c4934900de500c58a37ba_1f602.png What’s wrong here? It’s just an old WING5 OS that was just renamed? I think so. c330c482ed1c4934900de500c58a37ba_1f641.png

Aviv,

  1. There are no plans to create an HTML5 GUI outside of the controller at this time. We can’t say that it will never happen, but it is not on the roadmap currently.
  2. I’m not sure what you’re asking here. Your original question asked if there will be new features released in the future, and as Douglas stated, there will be.
  3. I will let engineering know that we need to update that output, thank you for letting us know about the typo.

Hello,

Answers are in line below:

  1. For now, the new GUI is available only on controllers. It will be available also on WING7 APS ? Per release notes GUI is not available for Universal APs
  2. I see that the new GUI is need a tons of fixes and lost features. We will receive any new features in future releases? Yes v7.6.3 is not the last WiNG release and there will be additional releases in the future. Please check the support portal for any notifications and release notes.
  3. As a Extreme partner I really don’t see any serious additions or features from WING 5 to WING7 (only new devices was added). When I running any installation of WING 7 - VX9000 I still see - “Running WING5 wizard” 60c1a8b32afd41b696ceb3bd4909b630_1f602.png60c1a8b32afd41b696ceb3bd4909b630_1f602.png60c1a8b32afd41b696ceb3bd4909b630_1f602.png What’s wrong here? It’s just an old WING5 OS that was just renamed? I think so. 60c1a8b32afd41b696ceb3bd4909b630_1f641.png This is most likely cosmetic and does not impact the use with supported APs and the newer Universal APs that support 802.11ax. As mentioned WiNG 7x includes the support of the newer Universal APs. Please see v7.6.3 release notes for new features.

Wow Douglas,

I wasn’t clear enough with my questions? ok….

  1. HTML5 GUI expected to arrive also to APS in the future ???   If you don’t know, just say that don’t know, it’s ok.
  2. As well WING v7.6.3 isn’t the last release. There is no answer for the question asked.
  3. Cosmetic accuracy = professionalism, cosmetic issue = professionalism issue.
