New APs - AP310/410/i/e are ignoring manual power settings

New APs - AP310/410/i/e are ignoring manual power settings

We are experiencing issues with new APs and old MCs ( article on GTAC did not help) and we've noticed that radios often use max power at 10, occasionally 13 and very rarely 18 regardless of what is configured in Smart-RF policy and even ignores manual overrides. We even try not to use Smart-RF policy at all but it was still the same. Also CLI command "show wireless regulatory device-type ” doesn't show any info for these APs for any country - not sure if it's related or not.

Tested FWs 7.5.1.3 and 7.5.2.0

Any help appreciated

APs that run WiNG7 use a new regulatory table. If using external antennas, you need to specify the antenna model in the AP profile/device config, only then the AP would be able to make correct power calculations and Smart-RF will work correctly.

Check different antenna groups and pick the antenna that is installed on the AP:

Thank you. Looks much better now. We usually do not use other than Extreme antennas but when we tried to change antenna gain on interface radio before (without changing/setting antenna-id ) it didn't help. I would expect same result from it as from antenna-id option.

Yes we are using external antena models. Thanks, I will try the command with specifying antenna type (for older APs - 7522 etc it wasn't necessary). But it still not solve main issue with ignoring configured power values.

Hi Michal,

It does show regulatory info, please see the following output from release 7.5.2.0:

Lab-VX#show wire regulatory device-type ap410i ca
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  #  Channel Set Power(mW) Power (dBm) Placement      DFS          CAC(mins)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  1   1-11        4000      36          Indoor    Not Required   0
  2   36-48       1000      30          Indoor    Not Required   0
  3   52-64       1000      30          Indoor    Required       1
  4   100-116     1000      30          Indoor    Required       1
  5   120-128     1000      30          Indoor    Required       1
  6   132-144     1000      30          Indoor    Required       1
  7   149-165     4000      36          Indoor    Not Required   0
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are you using 410e/310e? For the external antenna AP versions you need to specify antenna in the same command to get the regulatory info.

Ovais
