The future of the AP7522

The future of the AP7522

Hello,

has anyone some information about the future of the AP7522?
Is there already a EoS or EoL announcement?
I am asking because me was told that the AP7632 should/would be the successor of the AP7522.

Regards,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

AP 7632 had some issue with 5.9.something when it could loose its wired interface configuration what could cause issues. I've met such issue, it was there for one of the very first versions that were released for 7632. Besides it seems to be pretty nice performance/price ratio 11ac 2x2 access point.
Not sure what you are referring two regarding Extreme's recommendation (two times AP7522;) ).

Hope that helps,
Tomasz

Hello Tomasz,

does it really makes sense to use the AP7632 when next year the new AP300 will be released?
I don`t want to bet on the wrong horse.
I´ve heard that the AP7632 are not really recommended via Extreme. They shouldn`t be used instead of the 7522.
We have currently 1500x AP7522 in use and i would like to know what is recommendation espacially when it comes to buy new access points.

Regards,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Well, that would be a question to some sales people or SEs...
I still see 7522 in the pricefile so I bet they will go EoS much sooner. 7632 should be on sale for at least next several years, entire 76xx is kind of a flagship model family right now since not that long.
Extreme seems to be aware that 11ax is not that must-have-asap as the market seems to consider it. Many years will pass before you will benefit 11ax, but yeah, new chipsets and features though.
I'd leave it up to you. It would be needed to check if with WiNG 7.x a 75xx family is going to be supported. If yes, you're good to go with buying 7522 to enhance your impressive 1.5k collection.  If not, having only 7522s would put you in need to migrate bigger amount of APs (if you are really interested in moving to WiNG 7.x and AP300s)...
Personally I didn't hear Extreme staff discouraging from buying 7632s.

Hope that helps,
Tomasz

Hello Tomasz,

thank you for the answer.
The 75xx will be supported in the WING 7. Should be possible at the end of this year.
Do you know which chipset are used for the AP75xx and AP7632? I can`t find it in the technical spects.

Stefan

Hello Stefan,

Unfortunately I don't know exact chipsets being used. I believe Extreme rep's would help with this, either here or you could try with your local SE/sales to figure that out for you.

Kind regards,
Tomasz
