VC - all mixed up

VC - all mixed up

Hi

Hope someone can point me in the right direction, we have 22AP's , the config is Vlan1 ( Lan) VLAN 10 Captive portal/Voip.

This was working until I updated to 7.7.1.10 and then it went crackers.

All AP's are teh same model 7532 all at 7.7.1.10. I can ping them all and ssh to them.  From the GUI when set the auto elect IP for teh VC as they are all cabable

the comit - the IP for the auto  elect responds to a ping briefly and then stops. I then have to go the AP IP and it will show somthing like this

Phil_storey_1-1733835903284.png

it never shows me all AP even though they are all on the same network, From the cLI some AP's will show quite a few neighbours , some will show none. I have tried powering all the AP's off except for 1 then checking the profile, then bring another online, I then asign the profile and then it seems to revert the AP back to default. I have AP's that seem to be adopted , but not sure which AP is acting as controller,

This is what I see at the moment with AP's missing

but the devices shows

the ones that are offline are in the list above.

Device overides only shows 5 AP;s  with 4 out of 5 showing the default profile. If I change it to new profile  I end up going round in circles.

If I select any other AP's list it come back with application error - unable to connect to device -( MAC)

any help adice apreaciated

Thanks

Morning Phil_storey,

I would recommend not setting VC election to Auto.
Please follow the article below and manually designate an AP as the VC.
https://extreme-networks.my.site.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000081758

Note:
Worst can to resolve you might need to SSH to every AP and clear the Auto VC setting from the AP profile.
As every AP might be thinking it should be the controller.

Can I still select the Ip address of auto elected VC

Phil_storey_0-1733911895581.png

But leave the Enable auto election ov VC unticked.  Is it better to set one with high priorty and a second one with lower priorty  ?

Is this the command to remove the auto VC option ? no virtual controller

Hi Phil_storey,

No you don't want to mixed configuration of auto-virtual and manually configuring the virtual controller.
We would need to see a sample of an AP configuration to provide a better suggestion on how to resolve the issue(s) you are seeing if you are still trying to use the Auto virtual controller feature.
