Decoding a SecureStack Internal Power Failure error message

Decoding a SecureStack Internal Power Failure error message

FAQ_User
Extreme Employee
Article ID: 12464

Products
SecureStack C3, C2, B3, B2, A2

Symptoms
A '
code:
show support
' or current.log (5487) reports that an internal power source is not working properly or is not present.

For example:

<
code:
162
>
code:
Sep 16 11:35:11 10.20.200.119-3 SIM[105324496]: hwutils.c(2333) 146 %% Internal Power source is not working properly or is not present.

Cause
This message is reporting a failing internal power supply, which may or may not be backed up by a C2RPS redundant power supply (5741).

While in this state, the output of a '
code:
show system
' query should indicate a
code:
PS1-Status
of other than "
code:
Ok
".

The affected stack unit number is represented by the last digit of the IP address string - here, "
code:
10.20.200.119-3
" - which in this case indicates switch unit 3. To resolve to the physical unit, see 5780.
