S-Series, firmware 8.02.01.0012
Changes
One or more interfaces were created/configured using any firmware 7.00-7.03 (pre-7.11) version.
Then
if the system was upgraded to within the firmware 7.11-8.01 range (this may or may not have occurred), no interface changes were made there.
Then the system was upgraded to firmware 8.02.01.0012.
Symptoms
IP addresses created using pre-7.11 firmware fail to be applied to their interfaces during firmware 8.02.01.0012 system boot.
When such an IP address fails, the affected IP interface is not accessible and an error message ('show support') displays; for example:
<
>
code:ipIfMgr[1.tusrAppInit]restoreIpAddressData():deserialize failed
Solution/Workaround
Upgrade to firmware 8.11.01.0014 or higher.
Pre-upgrade workaround:
If this issue has already occurred, then a 'show config outfile...' followed by 'configure...' (
5035) will reload the configuration into non-volatile memory to restore correct operation.
If an upgrade to version 8.02.01.0012 is planned and the system meets the above-stated preconditions for this issue, then one of these procedures will prevent the problem from occurring upon upgrade:
- If running firmware within the 7.11-8.01 range; then before the upgrade take any step to change the overall interface configuration, including but not limited to creating/deleting an interface, or adding 'shutdown' or 'no shutdown' to an interface.
-or-
- If running any pre-8.02 firmware version; then after issuing 'set boot system...' and specifying "no reset" during upgrade (12740), issue 'show config outfile...' followed by 'configure...' (5035) in order to boot onto firmware 8.02.01.0012 with the refreshed configuration.
