Construct a PC adapter
Construct a null modem adapter
Serial management via console port

Solution

* RJ45 console port *

To construct a 'PC adapter' for serial management of most Cabletron/Enterasys devices having an RJ45 console port, the desired pinout is:
RJ45 DB9 Conductor
1 Tx 2 Rx Blue
4 Rx 3 Tx Red
5 GND 5 GND Green
2 DSR 7 RTS Orange
6 DTR 8 CTS YellowThe hookup between the PC's DB9 COM port and a device's RJ45 Console port would be:
COM port => PC adapter => RJ45 straight-through cable => Console port.

The adapter p/n 6380041, bundled into DB9 console kit 9372038 and RJ45 console kit 9372065, is gray and T-shaped, with a white sticker labeled "PC".
These parts are referenced in 3377.

If the sticker is missing, it probably has a different pinout, unless its a "home grown" adapter that was never labeled.

See 5130, for the procedure utilizing this part.

* DB9 console port requiring Null Modem cable *

To construct a 'Null Modem adapter' for serial management of Cabletron/Enterasys XSR, Vertical Horizon, ELS100-24TX(M,G), SecureStack, Matrix V2, and RoamAbout R2/AP2000 equipment, the desired pinout is:
RJ45 DB9 Conductor
1 Tx 3 Rx Blue
4 Rx 2 Tx Red
5 GND 5 GND Green
2 DSR 8 RTS Orange
6 DTR 7 CTS YellowThe hookup between the PC's DB9 COM port and a device's DB9 Console port would be:
COM port => PC adapter => RJ45 straight-through cable => Null Modem adapter=> Console port.
