[1]The limiting element is saturation of the receiver by the transmitter. When presented with a signal at a strength above the saturation point, the receiver cannot distinguish between pulses, though no hardware damage occurs. Note that products with no designated Min Reach can be interconnected using very short cables, with no need for attenuation at any time.

[2]The "ER" modules require a minimum fiber cable length of about 6km or equivalent (3dB) attenuation, to avoid receiver saturation.

[3]The 10GBASE-ZR-XFP requires a minimum fiber cable length of about 22km or equivalent (11dB) attenuation, to avoid receiver saturation.

[4]The 10GBASE-LX4 multiplexes four wavelengths (using four lasers) together with Coarse WDM technology into a single fiber. It is not compatible with the other 1310nm technologies listed herein.

[5]Use of the "LRM" modules with OM1 or OM2 MMF generally requires Mode Conditioning Patch Cords (7128).

[6]The 10GB-Cxx-SFPP is an integrated unit which bonds two SFP+ modules, one on either end of a length (1M/3M/10M) of Coaxial cable. The purpose is to form a high-bandwidth attachment between two local SFP+ compatible network devices, without using fiber.
