Discussion
If a blade fails to boot at any time and a red CPU LED is presented, it may not be advisable to attempt to reset and get a green CPU LED without further troubleshooting the root cause of that issue. For that purpose one can gather a log from the blade as long as it has a corresponding COM or USB port.

Here is the procedure:
  1. Set up a local console connection. [S (12453), N (5130), K (5130)] Manually reset the module - either via the reset button or by re-insertion of the blade into the chassis. After reset, monitor the progress of the boot cycle. Timing here is crucial. After the boot image is uncompressed, and the"Press any key to enter System Image Loader menu" message displays, you will have only a few seconds to press any of the keyboard keys to enter the System Image Loader menu, before the blade otherwise attempts to continue booting.Boot ROM Initialization, Version 01.01.05 Copyright (c) 2009 Enterasys Networks, Inc. Testing SDRAM.... PASSED. Loading Boot Image: 01.01.00... DONE. Uncompressing Boot Image... DONE. Press any key to enter System Image Loader menu 1
  2. Once a key is pressed, halting the boot sequence, the "System Image Loader" prompt will be presented.[System Image Loader]: ? ?, help - print this list boot - boot (load and go) delete - delete an image file download - start ZMODEM download list - display available images log - message log setbaud - set baud rate,(9600,38400,57600,115200,230400) setboot - change boot image file showboot - display boot image file clearnvram - clear persistent storage
  3. From here, type 'log' to display message log entries and then 'a' to display detail for all entries. Note that since the blade is not fully booted, it will not gather the logs from any other blades in the system.[System Image Loader]: log 1 10/17/2012 18:26:04 Shutdown Completed - Reset 2 10/17/2012 18:25:58 Shutdown Initiated - Reset 3 10/17/2012 18:25:56 Syslog Message <3>System:User initiated r... 4 10/17/2012 18:25:10 System Init Initialization Complete 5 10/17/2012 18:23:53 Informational Device was last fully operati 6 10/17/2012 18:23:39 Shutdown Completed - Reset 7 10/17/2012 18:23:34 Shutdown Initiated - Reset 8 10/17/2012 18:23:32 Syslog Message <3>System:User initiated r... 9 10/17/2012 16:02:03 System Init Initialization Complete 10 10/17/2012 16:00:45 Informational Device was last fully operati 11 10/16/2012 15:33:12 Syslog Message <3>System:Finished receivi... 12 10/16/2012 15:33:09 System Init Initialization Complete 13 10/16/2012 15:31:53 Informational Device was last fully operati 14 10/16/2012 15:07:23 Syslog Message <3>System:Finished receivi... 15 10/16/2012 18:13:54 Syslog Message <3>System:Time and Date sy... 16 10/16/2012 18:13:54 System Init Initialization Complete 17 10/16/2012 18:12:42 Informational Device was last fully operati 18 10/16/2012 18:12:28 Shutdown Completed - Reset 19 10/16/2012 18:12:22 Shutdown Initiated - Reset 20 10/16/2012 18:12:17 Syslog Message <3>System:Finished receivi... 21 10/16/2012 18:12:17 Syslog Message <3>System:Finished receivi... 22 10/16/2012 18:12:12 Syslog Message <3>System:Clearing our loc...
