I have come across a configuration that I have never seen before and wanted to ask the community if they are aware of any use case for this configuration. In our environment, many of the IDF closets have one power input placed directly into the switch stack and the other power input into a battery backup. The RAW power side is not line conditioned so is subject to brown outs which have in the past damaged power supplies and even switches. Have any of you heard of this practice and why would it be used? I am familiar with this practice in data center power configurations, but not for IDFs. Any insight would be appreciated.
