Notice Summary:

The legacy Aerohive Developer API, hosted at developer.aerohive.com, will be permanently shut down July 12, 2026. After this date, all API requests to legacy Aerohive endpoints (base URL https://[rdc-id].aerohive.com/xapi/) will fail and legacy Aerohive webhooks will stop sending data. Customers with active integrations must migrate to the ExtremeCloud IQ API (XAPI) or the Extreme Platform ONE Common Services (CS) APIs before the cutoff.

A migration guide with endpoint-by-endpoint mapping is published on the developer portal here.

Background:

The legacy Aerohive Developer API is a thin gateway over older Aerohive cloud services that pre-dates ExtremeCloud IQ and Extreme Platform ONE. New account registrations have been blocked for several years.

Two modern API platforms now cover the same functional surface — and exceed it for most use cases:

Continuing to operate the legacy gateway blocks platform consolidation, complicates security and rate-limiting governance, and prevents customers from receiving the feature richness, performance, and support guarantees of the modern APIs.

Impact:

  • All HTTP calls to https://[rdc-id].aerohive.com/xapi/ will return errors after July 12, 2026. Existing API tokens will no longer authenticate. Credentials cannot be created or renewed.
  • The developer portal at developer.aerohive.com will be taken offline at the same time. Documentation, code samples, and credential management will no longer be reachable.
  • Customer-side integrations (scripts, SIEM connectors, BI dashboards, ticketing automation, RTLS pipelines) that have not been migrated will stop functioning at the cutoff.
  • Private Regional Data Center (RDC) deployments are affected identically to public-cloud customers. The legacy API gateway is hosted centrally in the Global Data Center (GDC) and terminates before traffic reaches an RDC. A customer's RDC release version is irrelevant to the cutoff — there is no grace period for private-RDC accounts.
  • All legacy Aerohive webhooks configured in ExtremeCloud IQ Classic Global Settings > API Data Management will stop sending data.
  • No impact to:

Software Affected:

  • Legacy Aerohive Developer API — all 53 endpoints across 14 functional areas (device onboarding, device inventory, configuration push, client monitoring, alarms, presence/location, BLE, credentials, network policy read, SSID read, end-user management, statistics, webhooks, system info)
  • All API tokens issued through developer.aerohive.com (no exceptions; tokens cannot be re-issued or extended past July 12, 2026)

Symptoms:

Before the cutoff (now through July 12, 2026):

  • No functional symptoms — legacy API continues to operate normally.
  • Deprecation banner visible on developer.aerohive.com.

After the cutoff (July 12, 2026 and beyond):

  • HTTP requests to https://[rdc-id].aerohive.com/xapi/* return connection errors or 4xx/5xx responses.
  • Authentication attempts using legacy API tokens fail.
  • developer.aerohive.com portal is unreachable.
  • Customer-side automation that depends on the legacy API stops working — scripts hang, scheduled jobs error, downstream dashboards stop refreshing, alerting/webhook pipelines go silent.

Workaround:

There is no workaround that preserves the legacy API beyond July 12, 2026. The only supported path is migration to the modern APIs.

Solution:

Migrate all integrations to the modern Extreme APIs before July 12, 2026.

Step 1 — Read the Migration Guide. Available on the developer portals:
