solarwinds adding alerts

Hi Guys,

I am adding alerts on solar winds... but not sure if its correct or the way forward.

current.

I added the VC units IP address that works off icmp
I then try to create an alert with all Nodes. but I am not receiving alerts UP , DOWN ect..

please assist.
