Summary: Starting from firmware v24.5.6, the console/SSH password is managed by the Orchestrator.  If the administrator does not specify a password, a random password is generated to override the default password.

To manage or view the console/SSH password, in the Orchestrator, go to “Policy Configuration > General > Appliance Management Settings”.

Background: To enhance security, the console/SSH password behavior is updated for appliances upgrading to v24.5.6.

Impact: Appliances managed by the Orchestrator that are upgraded to v24.5.6 can no longer use the default password to log into the console/SSH.

Products Affected: All ExtremeCloud SD-WAN appliances.

Software Affected: ExtremeCloud SD-WAN firmware version v24.5.6.

Symptoms: For appliances managed by the Orchestrator that are upgraded to v24.5.6, console/SSH access using the default password will no longer work.

Solution:  Extreme Networks recommends using the Orchestrator to manage or obtain the console/SSH access password.

To manage and obtain the appliance console/SSH password, go to the Orchestrator, navigate to “Policy Configuration > General > Appliance Management Settings”.
