Summary
A security update has been released for a third-party operating system kernel to address multiple defects. The Ubuntu vulnerabilities affect the network file sharing server and client, IPv4 and IPv6 packet processing including in-band telemetry, packet filtering, several socket and transport layers, the network file system server, virtualization support, and multiple storage, cryptographic, and Ethernet device drivers. The defect classes are use-after-free, out-of-bounds read and write, integer overflow and underflow, and race conditions between concurrent request paths. An attacker with network or local access could potentially cause a denial of service, disclose adjacent memory, or corrupt memory in a manner that could lead to arbitrary code execution in a privileged context. The vendor has evaluated these issues against affected offerings and resolved them in the referenced maintenance release.
