Summary

The SMB client uses a dedicated key type to request negotiated authentication credentials from a userspace helper, and the key description carries authority bearing fields such as process id, user id, credential user id, and the upcall target. The helper treats those fields as trustworthy because it assumes they were produced by the kernel. However, an ordinary userspace process can create keys of the same type directly through the key request and key add system calls, so it can populate those fields itself without the request ever originating from the file system client.
