Summary
There is an issue with the SLX-OS 20.6.3 release where an SSH client can exit and cause a core file to be generated silently. This can lead to a disk full condition causing the device to become unreachable.
Background
Multiple copies of core dump files of the SSH daemon on any device running SLX-OS 20.6.3 causes the disk to fill up making the device unreachable via the management interface. No more data can be written to the disk.
Impact
The device will become unmanageable and manual intervention will be required to delete the files.
Products Affected
SLX 9540, SLX 9640, SLX 9740, SLX 9150, SLX 9250, Extreme 8520, Extreme 8720, and Extreme 8820.
Software Affected
Symptoms
The device is unreachable because the disk is full.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
Recovery: Disk space will need to be cleared, and the device should be downgraded to the previous version of software or upgraded to SLX-OS 20.6.3a or later.
Solution
The fix will be provided as part of the SLX-OS 20.6.3a or later releases via Defect ID SLXOS-77365.
