Summary

NNI adjacencies formed via auto-sense with IS-IS Hello Authentication may not re-establish after a switch reboot.  This is characterized by the auto-sense state for the port remaining in NNI-Auth-Fail on one side of the link and NNI-ONBOARDING on the other.  The IS-IS adjacency can be re-established by toggling the administrative state of the link (down/up).

Impact

Loos of IS-IS adjacency (NNI) between nodes after reboot

Products Affected

  • All VSP
  • All Universal Switching Platforms running Fabric Engine

Software Affected

  • VOSS/Fabric Engine 9.1.1.0
  • VOSS/Fabric Engine 9.1.2.0

Symptoms

  • Dynamic IS-IS adjacency (auto-sense) does not establish after reboot
  • Auto-sense port state is NNI-AUTH-FAIL on one side of the link and NNI-ONBOARDING on the other
  • IS-IS adjacency recovers when administrative state of the port is toggled

Workaround

Impacted adjacencies can be recovered by an administrative 'shutdown' and 'no shutdown' of the port as bouncing the port state restarts the auto-sense port state machine on both ends of the link.

Solution

This issue can be avoided with deployment of the following releases in place of the affected versions:

  • VOSS/Fabric Engine 9.2.0.0 or later code
  • VOSS/Fabric Engine 9.1.3.0 or later code (when available)

Hello,

v9.1.2.0 is available since 10/06/2025 and v9.2.0.0 since 14/03/2025.

Are there release dates know for v9.1.3.0 and v9.2.1.0?

regards

9.2.0 does not have this issue. So that is your option for now. 9.2.1 is planned to come out later this month. 9.1.3 is planned for some time in September.

Hello,

The applicable versions are the following two.

  • VOSS/Fabric Engine 9.2.0.0 or later code
  • VOSS/Fabric Engine 9.1.3.0 or later code (when available)

Based on this understanding, is it correct to assume that the following versions are not affected by this issue?

  • 9.1.0
  • 9.0.5
  • 9.0.2 and previousu versions,

According to the vulnerability information, OS versions past EOVM are not subject to evaluation, so I would like to confirm this.
