We have a lot off AP121's at one of our customers. We know the best strategy is replacing those ap's by newer versions, however at the moment we still have to use this older ap's. We using DFS, however the DFS channels are not chosen by the ACSP procedure. We see the DFS channels getting standard the value of 16, so non-DFS channels are prefered. We had the same issue on AP130's in the past, a new firmware version placed all channels (DFS included) with a begin value of zero, this solved the issue. However, I installed the newest firmware version for the AP121 (version 6.5r9a) and the begin value of the DFS channels is still 16, again all 280 ap's are using non DFS channels, and CCI is there. So, how can we solve this issue, or do we need to configure the channels manually instead of automatic (wich will be a lot of work).

HiveOS 8.x changed the default values and a lot of other ACSP variables. See docs.aerohive.com - http://docs.aerohive.com/330000/docs/guides/AerohiveChannelSelectionProtocol.pdf - for more details.

There are not many if any 8.x HiveOSs for the AP121 though (fortunately and unfortunately). As that AP model is fairly resource strapped when compared to the newer APs and even the older 3xx series APs. And as newer HiveOSs come to market and add features/functionality, the resource requirements also change.

With the AP121 being EOL'd on Feb. 1, 2017, the only OS updates to be expected are possibly security vulnerability fixes and not much in the way of feature enhancements (aka HiveOS 8.x support).
