AP122 high CPU usage when streaming.

AP122 high CPU usage when streaming.

Hi,

I have an AP122.

When I stream a 4kUHD movie (Plex server detects that the movie is encoded at 139Mbps) to my TV (the TV is connected at 5GHz band and 1% rx CRC rate according to tech log), the movie has to buffer all the time. Diggin deeper in the issue, it turns out that the AP122 CPU is about 98% when streaming that movie.

This is the log message: 2019-11-19 20:24:36 warn  ah_top: CPU rate overload.

The process that uses the 98% of CPU resources is :

3 root      RW [ksoftirqd/0]

My question is: is AP122 capable of dealing with that with a proper configuration (this is, reduce the ksoftirqd/0 demands) ? or I have reached a hardware limitation ?

Thank you!

It seems like the AP122's CPU is being overloaded due to the high bitrate (139 Mbps) of the 4K UHD movie. This indicates that the device may have reached its hardware limitation. You can try reducing the stream's bitrate by transcoding the video on the Plex server or lowering the quality settings for streaming. Additionally, ensure your AP122 firmware is updated and check for configuration tweaks, such as limiting other processes or optimizing the wireless network.

For hassle-free streaming and IPTV content, consider to descargar MagisTV, which offers smooth streaming experiences without heavy device demands.

Hello ExtremeNetworks Community,

Your AP122 struggles with high CPU usage (98%) when streaming 4K at 139 Mbps, likely due to limited processing power. Consider upgrading your access point or lowering the stream quality.

To change the language on MagisTV, go to the settings menu and select Language Preferences.

Best regards,

Hi Sergi,

It sounds like your AP122 might be hitting a hardware limitation. The high CPU usage, especially with the ksoftirqd/0 process, suggests that the access point is struggling to process the network interrupts efficiently while handling such a high bitrate (139Mbps). Unfortunately, the AP122 may not be optimized for streaming 4K UHD content at this level, particularly over wireless.

Here are a few suggestions that might help:

  1. Optimize Bitrate: If possible, reduce the bitrate of your stream on the Plex server. This can help decrease the load on the AP122.

  2. Ethernet Connection: If your TV supports a wired connection, switching to Ethernet can alleviate the wireless demand on the AP.

  3. Upgrade Access Point: Consider upgrading to a more robust AP designed for high-bandwidth streaming, such as those with better CPU and memory capabilities.

As an alternative, you might also explore IPTV services that are designed for seamless streaming across various devices. For instance, MagisTV Premium offers a user-friendly platform with optimized streaming quality. It could be a great solution for enjoying 4K content without the buffering issues you're currently experiencing.

Hello ExtremeNetworks Community,

It seems like your AP122 is struggling with the high CPU usage, especially when streaming a 4K UHD movie at such a high bitrate (139Mbps). The AP122's CPU spikes to 98% during streaming, which could be due to insufficient processing power to handle the data throughput, especially over a wireless 5GHz connection. You might want to consider upgrading your access point to a more powerful model or reducing the stream bitrate if possible. On a related note, if you're using want how to change the language on magis tv, you can typically find this option in the settings menu under "Language Preferences."

Best of Luck!!
