Configuring AP230 Eth1 in Bridge Mode for different vLan

Configuring AP230 Eth1 in Bridge Mode for different vLan

Hi.

I need to temporarily plug a workstation into Eth1.

I enter in the commands:

interface eth1 mode bridge-access

interface eth1 mac-learning enable

The workstation then receives an IP address from vLan 1 and works fine. How can I have the workstation receive an IP from vLan201?

Eth0 is on vLan 40.

Thank you.

Sure thing:

If you open your copy template> Select Eth1 and click Assign> Create New

You should see a new section now called “New Port Type”. Name the port type, then scroll down to the User Access Settings section and click the plus icon next to the Default User Profile:

You should now see a page called User Profile, name the new user profile and click on the plus icon next to the VLAN section to create a new VLAN object (If you’ve already created VLAN 201, click on the menu option instead of the plus icon and select your VLAN 201 object, highlighted in yellow in the next picture):

Create the new VLAN by naming the object and entering the VLAN number. I strongly recommend you make the VLAN name the same as the VLAN number, so it’s easy to identify in menus later on:

Save the VLAN, then save the user profile. Push this new configuration out to your APs when you are ready. Then, any device connected to the AP230 on the ETH1 port will be assigned to VLAN 201.

One last note, make sure all the ports in the network behind the AP are set up to use trunked ports supporting VLAN 201. If you’ve only used VLAN 1 previously, they may be set to access ports instead and only accepting traffic from VLAN 1. Just something to consider when adding new VLANs.

Hi Sam.

I duplicated the template that I am using, but I am noobish to tampering with these detailed settings. If you wouldn’t mind writing out the steps, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

If you’re using XIQ, you would just want to make a device template and set the user profile for ETH1 to VLAN201. I can write out the steps for that process if you’d like more details on creating this via device template.
