HiveManager Connect apparently fails to configure an AP130 in client mode

Hi All.

With reference to the "AP Client Mode" documentation

http://docs.aerohive.com/330000/docs/help/english/ng/Content/reference/understanding-aerohive-ap-client-mode.htm

I took a spare AP130 and tried to configure it following the documentation

http://docs.aerohive.com/330000/docs/help/english/ng/Content/gui/configuration/configuring-aerohive-ap-client-mode.htm

but apparently I failed repetitedly.

I say so because any "assign" option for wireless interfaces is greyed out, BUT if I enable that client mode directly in the wireless interfaces section (on any interface, either wifi0 or wifi1), then the wired interface settings just disappear from the template itself.

wifi1So, is it possible to configure an AP in client mode within a Connect account, or do I mandatorily need a Select account to configure a client mode AP? Or this problem exists just between keyboard and chair?

Thanks in advance for your understandings.

You'd connect to the other AP (such as the hotel AP from another vendor) by following the instructions in this guide: http://docs.aerohive.com/330000/docs/help/english/ng/Content/reference/understanding-aerohive-ap-cli...

Once you access the UI such as by connecting to the SSID it's broadcasting you can join an open/WPA2 SSID that will give your ATOM internet access. I'm not sure how this will work the L2 VPN however.

This is my case:

I have configured an AP230 in our office as server for Layer2 IPsec VPN, Our Atoms can stablish L2 VPN with the AP230 when they are connected with cable and evrything works fine. But I can't connect my Atom wirelessly to another AP to get internet connectivity.

If it's the expected behavour, how can I configure Atom to connect to another AP (for example to an AP in a hotell room) to get internet access and use the Layer2VPN?

Ah you're using an ATOM, yes that's expected behaviour. I found the same thing recently.

When a client mode is enabled on an AP it is basically changes the AP to a "router" mode.

The eth0 will be converted to wan mode providing backhaul connection.

I have exactly the same problem as Marco described, but I'm using an Atom. When I enable the client mode in the wireless interfaces section, the wired interface settings disappear from the template.
