How can i deploy new radio profiles for running access points?

How can i deploy new radio profiles for running access points?

Hello everybody,

we are using the on-premises Hivemanager NG (build version 12.8.1.2-NGVAMAY18 ) and a lot of AP230, AP250 and AP1130 (HiveOS 8.3r4 Mayberry build-195604 ).

I want to change the default radio profile to a customized one. But i do not know how i can deploy it easily (like deploying a network policy) to all access points. Is there any way to do this?

I just found a way to do it for each access point seperately via "Monitor --> Devices --> <Choose one Device> --> Configuration --> Interface Settings --> Wireless Interfaces --> WiFi0/1 --> Radio Profile". But if i need to do it for 430 APs, it will spend a lot of time. Furthermore, if i do it for each AP seperately, it is necessary to do any further steps, for example to reboot the AP or something else?

I am a newbie in using Hivemanager. I hope you can help me. If anyone have links to good documentations, please let me know. Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Andreas

Hi @Andreas Brück

A possible workaround in order to apply a custom radio profile to multiple APs could be (could be = it worked in HiveManager Connect)

"Monitor --> Select your APs by relevant checkboxes --> <Click on edit button> --> Interface settings --> Wireless Interfaces --> WiFi0/1 --> Radio Profile".

Before saving and pushing the new configuration (I used delta update, if you're wondering about) please pay attention to the SSID fields (in HM Connect those fields were filled with my login data, I don't know if it's a bug or whatever, but at any rate I cleared them before saving).

Let me know if that helps.

I just followed this guide

http://docs.aerohive.com/330000/docs/help/english/ng/Content/gui/configuration/configuring-ap-device-template.htm

Btw, after deployed my policy, in the Monitor tab my APs look like so:

If you don't see the custom template in your one, I guess something went wrong when deploy: given you're running HM on premise, I suspect the difference may lie in the "Classification rules" (formerly "assignment rules") you may have on it.

As said I'm running Connect (much simplified UI), so I cannot help, but you can find your current classification rules (if any) under "Configure --> Common Objects --> --> Policies --> Classification Rules".

Hey Marco,

thanks for your quick answer. I tried your suggestion:

  1. I created a new template for AP230 (clone from default AP230 template)900a79e9acfa408a9027c12500edf6cf_0690c000007Emg4AAC.png
  2. I edited it for my needs (change radio profiles from "radio_ng_ng0" to "Klon-HBRS_24g" and "radio_ng_ac0" to "Klon-HBRS_5ac"). Radio-Profile-02
  3. After that i deployed it to an Access Point (Complete Configuration Update).
  4. Sadly with no success. If i checked the device on the Hivemanager Monitor the AP is using the old radio profiles. Same result if i checked it on the CLI (show int wifi0).

Maybe i am missing something or i do something wrong? Do you have any idea?

Ehm... It's not "Interfice Settings" but "Device Configuration" (I don't know how to edit a previous message)

On HiveManager Connect I do

"Configure --> Network Policies --> <Choose your policy> --> Device Templates --> <Choose your template> --> Interface Settings --> Wireless Interfaces --> WiFi0/1 --> Radio Profile".

Hope this may help.
