I am using some AP 550 access points, they have dual radios. Do I need to connect two ethernet cables to them to use this feature?

Nope, it's about the wireless radios, not the Ethernet ports. You'd want to edit the device specific settings> go to interface settings on the left hand side menu> if the device is capable of dual 5GHz, then you can choose the drop down next to "Operating Mode" and choose 5GHz for the wifi0 radio.
