I am just curious if there we can and should monitor Hive Manager and all the Access Points in SolarWinds and if configuration backup can be done on is and any configuration management such as policy changes.
We would like to add Netflow later to see to monitor and see traffic flow. Can this be done for Aerohive?
Thanks!

Hey Keith,
It is unclear what to do after setting up the snmp profiles. Do network policies need to be created after that and push to all the APs? And then I can just add the Hive Manager to SolarWinds?
Thank you much in advance,
Paula

Hi Keith,
For some reason, I do not have the Common Objects listed when I go to Configure for this Hive Manager's instance. We're running the following version:
I do see the Common Objects listed under Configure with my Cloud version. I do not want to set this at the network policy level or the other object as I do not want to interview with the existing configuration.
It is better to create a new snmp server profile and once that is ready, have the policy profile references it.
thanks!

Thank you Keith for this.

Hi Paula,
You should be able to do some basic monitoring/trap collection of the AP's using SNMP protocol. The MIB definitions for that should be here https://aerohive.egnyte.com/fl/joEIxpUWjd#folder-link/ and here's the doc section on setting up SNMP server profiles https://docs.aerohive.com/330000/docs/help/english/ng/Content/gui/configuration/managing-snmp-servers.htm?Highlight=mib
I don't think HiveManager itself supports SNMP and for monitoring at that level you'd probably have to put something together using the API https://developer.aerohive.com/ for more details on that. Some monitoring tools have API agents built in but I'm not that familiar with SolarWinds.
Netflow (sFlow actually) is available https://docs.aerohive.com/330000/docs/help/english/ng/Content/gui/configuration/viewing-sflow-receivers.htm?Highlight=sflow
Hope this helps!
