Extreme Campus Controller - Floor Plan Configuration

Extreme Campus Controller - Floor Plan Configuration

I’m a total novice…..

We have an industrial control wireless application in a large building and are making use of AP360s.  We are connecting to overhead cranes at the top of the building and remotely operated vehicles at ground level.

On one side of the building is a lineup of 7 x AP360’s. For these AP’s the intent is use 7 x Radio 2 (5GHz) for communication with the roaming wireless clients on the cranes and 4 x Radio 1 (2.4GHz) to operate with the roaming wireless clients on the ground vehicles. We have one SSID configured for the cranes and a second SSID configured for the ground vehicles.

On the other side of the building is a second lineup of 4 x AP360’s. For these AP’s the intent is use Radio 1 (2.4GHz) only to operate with the roaming wireless client on the ground vehicles and to add these AP’s to the ground vehicle SSID described above.

We have configured two AP device groups; 1 = Cranes, 2 = Vehicles. For the Crane group, we have selected Radio 2 from the first set of AP’s. For the Vehicles group, we have selected Radio 1 from both sets of AP’s.

Is it possible to show the same AP on more than one floorplan? We are aiming to show the 5GHz radios on one floorplan (Cranes) and the 2.4GHz radios on a separate floorplan (Vehicles). We are guessing it does not matter if it is not possible to show the same AP on more than floorplan but would like to do so to accurately portray our setup.

Hi Craig,

you can only use an AP on one floor plan. It is not possible to import/display the same AP on multiple plans.

Hello Craig,

yes you got that exactly right.

You don't need the floorplans for operation or configuration.

Thanks Stephan.

We are assuming that the use of a floorplan is totally optional, is used to only to show AP locations and is not required for proper system operation. Can you confirm our understanding is correct?

Thanks again.
