EMC Slow Startup.

EMC Slow Startup.

Hi All,

Just curious if this is the same for all or just our environment.

Our EMC environment is very slow to startup.

We're running version 8.3.0.111 on a windows 2016 Standard server.

When we reboot the server for windows updates etc it can take a good half an hour for the Extreme server service to start and allow web connections for EMC.

the specs of the server are;

2016 Standard
Intel XEON X5660 2.80Ghz x 2 (6 core each, 12 total)
36GB RAM
200GB OS Drive (SAS Drives)
1TB Data Drive (SAS Drives)

any thoughts?

Kind regards
Ian

If you have a lot of switches managed by XMC it will take some time for XMC to scan those. I think at least NetSight (or was it RidgeLine/EPICenter???) had to go through all managed switches before presenting the web GUI and I think XMC behaves the same. There is/was a setting for starting the GUI before all the polling was done (presenting cached/old values from the database intially), but I have no idea if that setting is still there.

Check the /usr/local/Extreme_Networks/NetSight/services/nsserver.cfg file and make sure the memory settings are appropriate.

Does it throw any exceptions during startup?

Are you within the appropriate system specifications for your environment?
