Summary
ExtremeCloud IQ – Site Engine (XIQ-SE) performs a subscription license status check on all managed Extreme Universal Switches every 24 hours. If there is a disruption in connectivity between the switches and XIQ-SE during the license check, which is a very small window of time, the switches will reboot automatically using the last saved configuration
Background
The license model for Pilot and Extreme Platform ONE subscription licenses was updated to include Switch features that require a Premier license. To ensure that license information is synchronized between the switches and managed Extreme Universal Switches, a license check is performed every 24 hours. XIQ-SE initiates the license check to the switch, the switch responds with an update and expects an acknowledgement from XIQ-SE. If this acknowledgement is not received due to a disruption in communication the switch reboots
Impact
Switches reboot if there is a disruption in connectivity between the switches and XIQ-SE during the subscription license check, resulting in possible disruption to network operations

Work around
In order to avoid any disruption in connectivity between the switches and XIQ-SE during the license check, Extreme recommends deferring any maintenance or upgrades to the network infrastructure, including XIQ-SE, until the switches have been upgraded to a version that fixes this issue. Network redundancy should be leveraged during switch upgrades to ensure connectivity to the XIQ-SE is maintained for other switches in the network
Solution
Upgrade to one of the following software versions:
- Fabric Engine versions 9.2.2 and higher or 9.3.1 and higher. (once available)
- Switch Engine version 33.5.2 and higher. (once available)
