netsight 6.3.0.162 topology manager

netsight 6.3.0.162 topology manager

Hi All,

I have downloaded the latest version of netsight 6.3.0.162. with evaluation license.

The problem I could not find the Topology manger in console nor in one view. It should be in the "Tools" menu in console interface, But I can't find it there nor anywhere else.

Anyone have an idea if there is a change related to this version of Netsight

Thanks in advance,
Husam

Sorry I am on a roll but Extreme really needs to realize how bad Oneview maps is. In topology manager I can right click on a device and see tons of information about it. I can quickly see tables displaying neighbors, port info, OSPF, spantree, VLAN,etc. Oneview opens another tab and then the information is not displayed in a helpful manner. After a few clicks there is a long line of tabs that have to be closed. In the 30 or so minutes I have been trying oneview (again) I have accidently closed out the maps more than once by clicking the wrong thing. I understand Oneview maps may work well for wireless and it looks pretty but it is almost useless for quick device and network troubleshooting.

Decided to oneview maps again for a few minutes. It has a few cool features but it is nowhere near as useful as topology manager. I discovered a switch I needed to SSH into and it can't be done from oneview. I don't like having to go in and out of edit mode to make changes to the map. One wrong click and the page with all your edits are gone. Saying it tactfully, Oneview maps needs a lot more work. Don't take the old version away before fixing the new version.

Why has topology manager been deprecated before all of its functionality is included in the oneview maps? I do not see spanning tree overlays for one. Oneview is also no good for creating quick temporary maps.

They disabled topology manager by default. I believe the plan is for everyone to use the maps provided in OneView. There is however a way to turn topology manager back on, you might just need to check the release notes for the location where you can turn it back on.
