The ExtremeCloud™ IQ classic UI will be retired Q4 calendar year 2026. The new UI has been available  since July 2025 to ensure customers have ample time to become comfortable before the classic UI is retired.

We will be transitioning from the classic UI to our modernized new UI which will become the default interface for all ExtremeCloud IQ customers in July 2026. The classic UI will be officially retired in Q4 2026 (before December 31, 2026)

Why is This Transition Needed?

  • ExtremeCloud IQ classic is based on legacy architecture
  • No new features are being added in ExtremeCloud IQ classic
  • All features / capabilities are developed in ExtremeCloud IQ new UI and Extreme Platform ONE

Seamless Transition to ExtremeCloud IQ new

  • Customers will have a new UI and UX to manage their networks with ExtremeCloud IQ new
  • There will be NO IMPACT to customers data / networks / logs / devices
  • Customers will continue to manage and monitor their network as they have been doing prior to the upgrade

What’s Changing

  • ExtremeCloud IQ is transitioning from the classic UI to the new UI experience.
  • This is a user interface update only. The underlying platform, configurations, policies, and data remain unchanged.
  • There are specific features that will not be available in ExtremeCloud IQ’s new user interface based on customer usage or were not working in prior releases
  • There are specific 3rd party switches that will no longer be supported with ExtremeCloud IQ’s new user interface

What’s Not Changing

  • No impact to network operations
  • Same URL and login credentials
  • No configuration, policy, or data loss
  • No licensing or entitlement changes

@rogerwcsd I know exactly what you mean.  I have 24+ building, some single floor, and others 2 floors.  The only saving grace is that I named my AP's to match buildings, such as BLD-C-1-1 meaning Building name is C, and its 1st floor and AP 1.. But in their views that can create issues as some of the names are long and the column issue is there, so scroll down to the bottom, slide right and scroll back up (which is a PITA)   So yeah, they need to sort that out.

@house_arelius Wow mate.  Amazing post.  I noticed the same thing as I try to get familiar with EP1 - as Im going to either be stuck with that, or "New" if/when some licenses expire next month.

Trying to get to the bottom of a client issue is next to impossible in EP1, as the "symptom" is either not clickable, the text isnt clear, or there is contradicting information.

I think their interface has been created as frames, and in those frames is nothing more than an API call.  Its a bit of a guess, but it would explain why what you need isnt always on the same page.  Old interface, it has a lot more frames and in each frame were the API calls.  Again, just a guess.

I truly hope we get a one-for-one from Classic to either EP1 or "New" - parity - but that it lines up the same, like views, filters, and the data it shows.

I also agree that once EP or New is patted on the head and sent out the front door, that they extend the time before forcing its customers over to one or the other of those systems, allowing Extreme to address all the issues, bugs, and requests being made, so that we can still have the ease of managing our Tenant, versus going all over the newer interfaces trying to find what we need, or not finding it at all (unaddressed missing pieces).

Great post @house_arelius , and awesome you included those screen grabs, makes it a lot clearer on what you dont see, or isnt available yet.  I have the same issue trying to find an answer on a client(s), and really not getting that, as of typing this.

An additional inconsistency I noticed while testing side-by-side:

While viewing the same AP in real time side-by-side in EP1 and XIQ Classic, using the exact same timeframe aligned down to the second:

EP1 showed 3 connected clients and reported all 3 as having poor health. When filtering to only clients with issues, only 1 client appeared.

In XIQ Classic, all 3 clients were shown as healthy, which also aligns with what I’m seeing from the client and device state directly.

house_arelius_0-1776810213326.png

This kind of mismatch is concerning, as it makes it difficult to trust the health indicators in the new UI. If the summary count, the filtered results, and the actual client state do not align, it becomes very hard to determine what requires attention.

A related concern here is alert fatigue. When health indicators and issue counts are inconsistent or lack clear context, it becomes difficult to determine which alerts are actionable. Over time, that erodes confidence in the platform and increases the risk that real issues are overlooked or dismissed as noise.

As a side note, it would be helpful to bring back quick selectable timeframes, along with clearly displaying the active timeframe in the UI as it does in XIQ Classic. That would make it easier to verify context without needing to repeatedly open the time/date filter.

@house_arelius SERIOUSLY.  Thats very, very bad.  That doesnt even seem to be a programming "glitch" or "error".  The data that goes upstream, is the data that goes upstream.  It should be consistent.  I used to be a prgrammer a million years ago, so I do have a clue what Im talking about.

This goes right back to what Id posted a while back, about not being able to trust what I see in the Interface.  I also have to deal with network/device security at work, so I know what you mean about Alert Fatigue, and this issue will create a lot of false positives with a few true positives which is a nightmare to deal with.

That issue is going to HAVE to be resolved.  Of course once the classic interface is gone, we have no way of actually knowing what is real and what is not in relation to what we see.

This is something that cant be resolved with a GTAC ticket, this is the root, the core of New or EP1.

I trust XIQ Classic, and while i have had issues, I was 99% sure of what I was seeing. To see your screenshots and read your post.  This is so far beyond bad.

Oh boy.  Hopefully @SamPirok  sees this post, and can get that in front of eyes.  of course those eyes may not care, or are blown off by management, or "to close to completion/roll-out to stop".

Thanks again for your post and screen grabs, even though it fills me with dread.

Way back some place in this looong post, I believe I mentioned something about some licenses expiring.  Let me tell you, at least a DOZEN meeting invites, with dates and times we emailed back we couldnt meet, then to accept a meeting request, to then get more emails with times... I swear there is something seriously wrong inside Extreme.. conflicting emails from the SAME people.....

What is going on?? too busy to pay attention? culture shift? regime shift? management change? political climate? being sprayed with mind altering chemicals by the government, an internal and unstopped Ai running rampant??  What IS going on....

I have had one of the most frustrating days today with Extreme, and it has been a hell of a crappy two weeks - let me tell you - with internal and external (mostly external) people/companies.

Sorry for a bit of a rant, but it seems that inside Extreme, they are in a massive state of disarray... and why though?  No idea... but it is ABSOLUTELY affecting their customer base, us! Im so **** frustrated right now, and thats not even about all of the previous posts on THIS subject... but it does ADD to all of these posts - part of the core symptom, whatever that is - , and highlights something is seriously messed up inside the company.

This cant go on.. Come on Extreme, fix your ****, get with the program.

I'm trying hard to get used to the new UI but there are so many missing features.

For example, the filter option is very limited and doesn't allow filtering by Audit Mismatch so I can find the devices needing update out of seveal hundreds of devices.

I cannot find how create, import, export users in User Groups, how to renew PPSK, etc

I cannot find Common Objects to create, edit and delete the objects to be used in Network Policies.

I don't see any way to save "Custom filters" so I don't have to go each time all the process to filter something.

Upgrading firmware or Full Update don't have the option "Next reboot" so either an inmediate reboot will happen or a reboot has to be scheduled.

@jlmangas I can help a little here - but yeah the new UI is pretty bad, and missing or moved parts - on the left Click on Network Policies in the left panel.  To the right - the larger window - towards the top, you will see the words Network Policies in larger text, and a drop down arrow.  Click on that.  Once you do, you will see the menu options from the classic XIQ, such as Common Objects, User management, etc.  Click on those to get their sub-menu's.

Yup, painful as its a pretty small box they crammed all that into.  As someone posted on this thread, its like they developed this software in 4K...

But doing the above will get you where you need.

As for the other items you pointed out, yup we are all pretty much in agreement.  Extreme has a long way to go to get this new UI to a point where their customers are happy with it.  Not only that, but in Classic, things like, for example,  Client 360 gave you almost a single pane of glass to troubleshoot or investigate things, where in the new UI, you have to go clicking all around - writing down what you had seen to verify -  and then try to combine that data into something you can understand.  Not great.

It was also pointed out, that data that was viewed side-by-side with Classic and the new UI did NOT match up.  That is disastrous.  These are edge devices, and so the data that goes upstream IS the data.  So that data should be exactly the same whether viewed in the New UI or the old one!

You are not alone.  Lots of unhappy & slightly upset customers concerning this new roll out.  If you havent already done it, maybe start at the very first post, and work your way down.  There are some amazing posts, and comparisons, some very smart people have posted on this thread.

@DeVoID Many thanks for the tips.

@SamPirok Is there a roadmap outlining which features will be available in the new UI in specific upcoming versions?

DeVoID
Valued Contributor

@D_Bereda That would be great, but I think that would be the development team, and developers dont tend to share with "outsiders".

Things like when will we be able to sort the Status Column's, adjust columns, as they work to get as closer to 1 to 1 with Classic XIQ. Vs EP1 Vs New.

Another thing to point out, speaking of that.  I have LLDP enabled, and when clicking on an AP >> Wired Interface, I can see the Switch and Port its plugged into.  Very helpful if I want to cycle the AP via the switch (when I have an issue where I can ping the AP, but its showing offline).  That apparently is NOT in EP1, but if it is, its so buried that no one can find it (although I was told on a different post that EP1 doesn't have that "yet").

But yeah, would be nice to have a running Post with features, or parity updates as they are rolled out.

PS: I do have an idea about that Unassigned - and this is nuts -  its an unused network policy that I keep around for testing, and as of typing this, it doesn't have anything assigned to it, not a user, SSID, template... nothing.. zero.. nada... so why it would be that?!  No idea, but my brain is saying its possible...

DeVoID

<sigh>

So im going into lots of different places in EP1 - to self-learn/understand it better, and I look at the dashboard, within that I see under the Location heading I have something Unassigned.

I open up the built-in Ai, and ask it to show what device(s) are unassigned....  Yup, you guessed it, nothing unassigned, look here:

DeVoID_0-1777649316666.png

Im done for the day "playing" with EP1, as its only frustrating me..  It has to get better. Im more concerned about mis-match of data between classic and new/ep1 though.  But this... really?  I have almost no trust in the data its showing me and for something I rely on each and every day, as many of you do, that is terrible..

Have a great weekend,

DeVoiD

PS: A part of my brain thinks its there because of an unused policy that I keep around for testing.. But it doesn't have anything associated with it, no users, SSID,s AP's, etc.. So it couldn't be..right?!... But ive said that about other parts of EP1... so I think my brain is right!!
