The ExtremeCloud™ IQ classic UI will be retired Q4 calendar year 2026. The new UI has been available  since July 2025 to ensure customers have ample time to become comfortable before the classic UI is retired.

We will be transitioning from the classic UI to our modernized new UI which will become the default interface for all ExtremeCloud IQ customers in July 2026. The classic UI will be officially retired in Q4 2026 (before December 31, 2026)

Why is This Transition Needed?

  • ExtremeCloud IQ classic is based on legacy architecture
  • No new features are being added in ExtremeCloud IQ classic
  • All features / capabilities are developed in ExtremeCloud IQ new UI and Extreme Platform ONE

@DeVoID below the answer produced by Extreme AI Sales Assistant:

ExtremeCloud IQ Connect is the base-level tier of ExtremeCloud IQ. It provides subscription-free cloud management for up to 10 supported devices, enabling organizations to deploy enterprise-grade connectivity with basic network management features. This allows users to manage their network infrastructure without a paid subscription, but with limited functionality compared to higher license tiers like Pilot or CoPilot. Connect is designed for smaller deployments that require essential cloud-based management and monitoring capabilities, but do not need advanced features such as enhanced policy enforcement, advanced troubleshooting, or AI-driven analytics, which are available in the higher tiers 1 .

Please note that ExtremeCloud IQ Connect will be deprecated after Q4 of calendar year 2026. Users will be notified and guided to transition to Extreme Platform ONE subscriptions to continue managing their Extreme Networks devices

@TeleZ Ah gotcha,  Yeah I read it was going away - I didnt know thats what it was called though -, and all the people/companies that use it for 10 or less Access Points will have to buy a subscription. <sigh>.

Thats rough, basically have it for free, and then its taken away.  But thats how it goes.  Get you in the door and once you are in, slam it behind you and your choice is to either accept it and pay, or try and find a cheaper solution.

Remember though, nothing is ever free.  Somehow you were paying for it, they were getting paid.  Probably via data collection, sold as advertising revenue (user stats, sites visited, etc.), something.

Thanks for explaining that.  Sorry its now going to cost you.  Although, maybe look at Ruckus Wireless... I seem to remember they had something for "free"... but no idea if you can use the same AP's across brands.

@SamPirok  -- Hi, I have a few AP50XX universal access points and have been using XIQ-connect to manage and upgrade firmware.

I am OK with managing them on-prem in the future, instead of using cloud management.

My question is - how do I upgrade firmware for my APs in the future. The firmware is only accessible via Extreme portal accounts currently so I cant download those.

Can you pls provide feedback to the product team and make sure users can access to the firmware of their products at least?

Thanks.

@yiyayo Thats the thing though, from what I can tell - others correct me if I'm wrong - is that XIQ Connect is going away. If that goes away, I'd imagine you cant manage your AP's without some kind of subscription (one of their other platforms.... EP1 or XIQ New).

Right?

While firmware can have bug fixes and security updates - and sometimes enhancements - unless its to patch a security vulnerability, its best to stick with whatever stable firmware you have,  Trust me, I was always updating firmware, and had nothing but issues - the quality of the releases are now terrible - and then had to work a lot more to undo that failed updates, only for Extreme to release an "a" or "b" version that would install nicely.  Read through this entire thread and you will see what I mean.  Also under their XIQ >> Firmware section...

Just my 2 cents.
