UPDATED: July 2026

The ExtremeCloud™ IQ classic UI will be retired in Q2 calendar year 2027.  The new UI has been available since July 2025 to ensure customers have ample time to become comfortable before the classic UI is retired.

We will be transitioning from the classic UI to our modernized new UI which will become the default interface for all ExtremeCloud IQ customers. The final operational date for the classic UI is yet to be confirmed and will be communicated closer to the transition period.

Currently administrators are presented with the classic UI when initially logging into ExtremeCloud IQ. Beginning in November 2026, by default customers will be presented with the new UI but will have the option to toggle via the 9-dot menu back to the classic UI.

Why is This Transition Needed?

The new UI is built on a next-generation architecture that delivers:

  • Improved performance and stability
  • Streamlined workflows with a modern, and easier to use UI design
  • Enhanced monitoring, troubleshooting, and visibility
  • A scalable foundation aligned with Extreme’s cloud-managed roadmap

Seamless Transition to ExtremeCloud IQ new

  • Customers will have a new UI and UX to manage their networks with ExtremeCloud IQ new
  • There will be NO IMPACT to customers data / networks / logs / devices
  • Customers will continue to manage and monitor their network as they have been doing prior to the upgrade

What are the changes and their impacts?

  • There will be NO IMPACT to existing networks.
  • Same URL and login credentials
  • No licensing or entitlement changes
  • Network configurations, policies, data, permissions, and performance remain
    unchanged
  • Only the UI experience is updated
  • Administrators will manage and monitor their networks exactly as before, but
    now with a modernized interface
  • Existing features in the classic UI that will be retired and replaced by advanced features. These
    include:
    • WiNG Controller Data in Connected Mode
    • A3
    • SR and Dell Switch support
    • XR Routing Support
    • Legacy Entitlement Keys (LEK)

Recently added functionality:

  • The Guest, WIPS, and Location features (formerly known as Essentials)
  • Improved administrator roles and RBAC functionality
  • Manual packet capture
  • Local AP, Controller, and Tunnel Concentrator onboarding and monitoring.
  • ExtremeCloud IQ Site Engine monitoring
  • Enhanced Filtering Options

@Nithisha   Hmmm.

What about parity between XIQ Classic and XIQ New/EP1?  will there be 100% parity between the Classic and the New/EP1?  Will that be in place before Classic is no more?

As has been pointed out in this thread by quite a few customers, there is still a lot missing, and while Classic is still available, we have noticed "bits" of its functionality have been removed/depreciated (some of which is likely due to the old API being shutdown), but at least Classic is still there for us and its giving us the data/functionality we need.  The concern is that Classic gets shutdown and we are left without the full parity/functionality within New/EP1.

Also, no one addressed the fact that data we see in New/EP1 does not match data in Classic, leaving us not trusting what we see in the newer platforms.  Is there a "why" that is the case - and still is - ?  these are edge devices and the data is the data, it should be the same regardless of what interface we are using, and that data is not the same.

We really do need an answer as to why, and that its being addressed, and some kind of reassurances on the "fix" for that disparity of data/interfaces.  We need to be able to trust what we are seeing in these new platforms, and being honest we dont - and some very good examples are within this thread if you need to fact check it-.

@Nithisha It was posted somewhere in this thread, but it would be a good idea to have a post with a list in it, showing what is coming up (coming to EP1/New that brings that parity from Classic), what is being worked on, and timelines for the release/implementation of those "modules/features".

That would benefit a heck of a lot of Extreme's customers that use Classic and are being moved to New/EP1.  As you already know, there are a lot of questions within this thread related to features that are either missing, need work, or havent even been mentions/replied to.

Maybe bug whoever you report to, or higher to make the above happen.  A lot of people rely on this Extreme product, but its not the only show in town, and im sure a lot of customers have probably already informed their management team of all the changes that extreme has made in this past year.  Im just putting it out there, but the company really needs to rethink its customer relation policies and its roadmap for these products - innovation doesnt have to hurt customers -.

Thanks again @Nithisha for getting back to me, I will keep this open, so when you get back to me, ill see it.

Some feedback for the devs:

I have been using the new map editor to edit a map for an expansion to one of our buildings. There are some definite quality of life improvements over the old map editor: zooming in and moving around is mostly painless (whereas in the Classic map editor, it was painful) - though it WOULD be nice to be able to use CTRL or SHIFT + Mouse-Scroll-Wheel to move horizontally and vertically like in other graphics software.

One drawback was that I had no way to upload the new map image file via Platform One, and had to go back to the classic view in order to do this. Maybe there is a way to do it, but I could not find it.

A couple of other pain points: when deleting a wall, while the cursor will select it when "close enough" (you get that little circle indicating that you are on the line or on a vertex), it seems that I have to be even more exactly hovered over the wall before right click works - it would be nice if this "close enough" point for moving vertexes was also close enough to right click on them. The "delete" button that comes up seems to require you to click right on one of the lines of the line-art trash can rather than just anywhere inside of the trashcan. I expect giving the trashcan a fill colour might solve the issue software-wise (depending on exactly how the code works). Also, having to confirm before deleting each line is tedious - I would do away with that confirmation dialog myself (unless there was a way to delete multiple lines all at once - for a big delete like that, a confirmation is definitely a must, unless there is a way to undo/redo changes).

Bigger wish-list items (ie, I understand, having written some software myself, that these could be big asks requiring significant redesign - I'll put them here anyway on the offchance that they can happen):
- being able to select, move around, modify and delete multiple line segments all at once (possibly with click and drag to select type functionality). This would be especially handy when putting in a new map image to reflect rennovations or building expansions, especially if the expansion was at the top of the map such that the old wall lines etc don't match up with the new placement on the map image.
- some way to move around the new map file to line it up with the old one so that old lines don't need to be redrawn after a building expansion.
- undo/redo buttons.

Other notes so far:
I may have other feedback. The 3D view is pretty cool - not sure what it gains us, but it is cool! Overall, it is mostly an improvement over the old map editor!
