AP1130 and AP650(AH) firmware divergence?

AP1130 and AP650(AH) firmware divergence?

I noticed that firmware for the AP650(AH) is out, with the new version being 10.5.4.0.

I updated a few of the AP's that had zero clients, startign on my AP650(ah)'s, and then went to update the firmware on the AP1130's. thats when i noticed that 10.5.4.0 wasnt an option, only the previous version 10.5.3.0.

Whats going on?  since ive had this system (since Aerohive) its been the same firmware for the AP650's as it has for the AP1130's.

Dont tell me that the firmware is going to start to diverge based on the model of AP... please dont tell me that.... not a good idea..

Anyway, im interested why the latest isnt available for the AP1130's, anyone?

Well, the AP1130's have a firmware update.  Im re-posting this, as I did post again, but it didn't show up here.  Reposting it, this time as a reply to my first post may help with that.

Here is the version number:

10.6r1a and it takes about 7.5 minutes to fully update, along with two reboots, which makes me think this is a security fix - No release notes on that version so far, so i am guessing its a security fix.

Anyway, wanted all to know that check posts here.

Thanks,

J.

@daniel1  and it appears the same is now true for 10.5.5.0, that AP1130's wont take it either.

This is what GTAC just messaged me, "I believe this may be an error with the documentation as I have checked with my team and we are unable to push the 1130 to 10.5.4. I apologize about the inconvenience."

What's crazy, is that not only do the release notes for 10.5.4.0 say AP1130's are included, but in checking the release notes for the "brand new" 10.5.5.0 firmware, that also says its available for AP1130's.  Someone is messing up bigtime on their documentation.  Although i didnt like the part of GTAC's reply that said "I believe this may", i like black and white, it is or it isnt.  But if I/we take it at face value, 10.5.3.0 is the latest firmware for AP1130's.

Thanks, Jason.

The release notes for IQ Engine 10.5r4and XIQ version 23r1 both list AP1130 as supported so there should be firmware available.

Yup, thats what i thought, but the latest firmware is not available for the AP1130's.

here shows the 10.5.x.x versions available for the AP1130:

only 10.5.r1 & r2 & r3.  not .r4

Selecting only one AP, then using the install latest firmware (which auto-selects the latest) shows only the 10.5.3.0 version, here:

So unless its being held longer in QA, i have no idea why it isnt availabel for the AP1130's.

Thanks, Jason.

Well i tried again this morning, and updated a few AP650(ah)'s to 10.5.4.0 without any issue, it shows up in the "upgrade to latest version", as well as showing up in the dropdown list.

I then selected a single AP1130, and "upgrade to latest" shows 10.5.3.0, and the same for the dropdown.  Here is a picture of that:

Im going to give it until the end of the week, and then ill create a GTAC ticket if its still not allowing the latest firmware.
Jason.
