Cast to tv does not work (youtube, mobile screen share etc.). AP305C

Hi all,

I have an issue when “cast to tv” button on youtube is missing when connected on AP305C, while on AP122 everything works fine.

I’m not sure how mobile phone finds tv, but I guess broadcast packets is involved here and it’s not being forwarded correctly.

Does anyone has similar issue?

Hi again!

I’ve found a solution to this problem. Now I am able to see cast button in youtube.

Just disable “Broadcast and Multicast Handling” under SSID optional settings.

I must say I had no clue that this function is called cast to tv but it works for me.

Samsung TV with a Chromcast connected to it - AP305c - smartphone

I haven’t configured anything special on the AP.

Is the Chromcast and the cellphone in the same VLAN/subnet so they could see each other ?!

Hi,

It’s most likely multicast based discovery (like Bonjour, mDNS), make sure that when client connects to another AP, both client and TV reside still on the same subnet (I don’t see much details on this in pastebin and frankly speaking I still have to improve my XIQ AP cfg reading skills, I’m used to WiNG much more). If this is ok, you can check underlying switch port. If it’s the same port, it shouldn’t be a problem. If it’s a different port and client/server are on different APs, take a look at any security/storm control related settings that might prevent multicast traffic from passing thru between switch ports. If all is good here, I’d try to look around if there is a different default behavior regarding BUM traffic handling on these AP models, call GTAC eventually.

Hope that helps,

Tomasz

I have checked every radio profile setting. There are some differences because hardware of these AP’s are different, but I couldn’t find any setting differences which could cause behavior like this.

I guess it could be software bug.

You can compare the two texts here to see the differences: https://www.diffchecker.com/

Mainly it looks like you’re using a different radio profile between the two configurations.

Configs added. Maybe someone could check it. Thanks.
