SLPP-GUARD over MLT

SLPP-GUARD over MLT

Hi Team,

Over this topology:

topoMLT.jpg

SLPP in COREs and SLPP-GUARd in edge ports on ERS-STACK1, but what about MLT ports (x,y)? Could I apply SLPP-GUARD over MLT? Is there any other option to detect loops in the MLT between stacks?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can do that.

ERS4900-STK(config)#% mlt
               alias% show mlt !!NONE\s -s
                                                                         LACP
Id Name Members Bpdu Mode Status Type Key
--- ---------------- ---------------------- ------ ----- -------- ------ ----
1 Trunk #1 1/49,3/49 All A Enabled Trunk NONE
2 Trunk #2 1/1-2 All B Enabled Trunk NONE
MODE Legend:
B=Basic, A=Advance, E=Enhanced, Man=ManLag, Dyn=DynLag
ERS4900-STK(config)#%
ERS4900-STK(config)#% ife 1/1-2
               alias% interface fastEthernet 1/1-2
ERS4900-STK(config-if)#% slpp-guard ?
  enable Enable SLPP-guard on ports
port Port number(s) on which to change SLPP-guard settings
timeout Set SLPP-guard auto port re-enable timeout
ERS4900-STK(config-if)#% slpp-guard enable
ERS4900-STK(config-if)#%

HI EF1,

Yes you can apply SLPP-Guard on port, to send slpp packet to the Stack-2 and use slpp-guard on.

About a loop in MLT, what can generate it ? misconfiguration or config loss on stack-2 ?

About config loss, you should use LACP. If stack-2 have config trouble, link x or y or both will stay out of the mlt.

If you have any other use case of loop in the MLT, let me know.

regards,

TQU
