Hello all,
Recently we've been noticing some issue with our ERPS rings. When an SFP transceiver dies and we go to replace it without first rebooting the switch the ring appears to freak out a bit and cause some issues. I just wanted to know if this is something that we are doing wrong or if rebooting before replacing the SFP is recommended? Thank you!

You shouldn't need to reboot the switch. If possible, you can disable the port, replace the optics and connect it and enable the port. This will mitigate any optical link flapping while inserting the fibre. Do you have CFM configured with ERPS as recommended by Extreme or just plain ERPS? EXOS version?

Hey Fredrik, still looking into this issue but I do believe it is a problem with our ports and the east / west config. Some of our ports are East -> East and West -> West which might be causing some issue since we have a plain erps config with no CFM or MEPs.

"EXOS defines ring ports as 'east' and 'west' although this definition is arbitrary; it doesn't matter which port is east/west as long as other configuration lines up appropriately."

Have you had any luck?
