Hi,
Looking at release notes for the latest recommended version of EXOS firmware, which is 30.7.1.1-patch1-103, is gives this statement:
“Stacking: Upgrading from ExtremeXOS 30.2 and Earlier You cannot automatically update a switch running ExtremeXOS 30.2 or earlier to ExtremeXOS 30.3 or later due to a file system compatibility issue. If a switch has ExtremeXOS 30.2 or earlier, prior to inserting the switch into the stack topology, you need to upgrade the switch manually:”
What I don’t know is what this means if the switch is already in a stack? The stack is part of the core of the network, so need to be able to upgrade efficiently.
Current version is 22.7.2.4-patch1-3
Many thanks in advance

Hi Martin,
tbh, I never really understood this sentence and also GTAC couldn’t answer all my questions regarding this paragraph.
What I believe: If you have a stack running 30.3 and newer and one of the switches fails, you can’t replace this broken switch with a factory-default switch if this switch is on 30.2 and lower. Auto-Update and Auto-Stack won’t work. (needs confirmation)
Generally it is of course possible to update from 30.2 to 30.3, even though there are some issues, especially with X440G2 and X620G2 in my experience.
If you have problems with upgrading, here are some hints that helped me in the past:
Best regards
Stefan

Thanks Stefan, appreciate the reply.
Will aim for a straight upgrade, and report back how it goes.
Cheers.
