High CPU on Switch Engine/EXOS

High CPU on Switch Engine/EXOS

Hi I have several hundred 5420 switches running Switch Engine and x435s running EXOS code 32.7.1.9-patch1-68.  They are all monitored via XIQ-SE and have the standard CPU alarm configured.  From time to time this alarm triggers but then checking CPU on CLI everything is ok.  Once the hal process was pegged at 99% but for the rest of times everything seemed normal.  Is this a software defect?  Some 5420s are stacked and the issue seems more common there.

Same here on 5520 and 5420 stacks with 32.7.x. CPU alerts in XIQ-SE don’t always match CLI values, usually during polling or stack sync. hal sometimes spikes briefly after link events but clears on its own. Looks more like a monitoring false positive than an actual load issue.

Such situations need to be looked at on an individual basis, as CPU usage can depend on a lot of external factors.

It's best to contact GTAC in such situations to have this investigated.
