Iparp proxy configuration

Hello, all!

We have scheme below:

We want to change D-Link to X590.

Access switch configured with traffic segmentation - when 2 client isolated.

D-Link has commands:

create ipif vlan1 10.0.0.1/24 vlan1 state enable

config ipif vlan1 proxy_arp enable local enable

And aftre that PC1 can see PC2 through gateway MAC 00.00.00.00.00.01

on PC1 - ARP entry 10.0.0.3 00.00.00.00.00.01

on PC2 - ARP entry 10.0.0.2 00.00.00.00.00.01

When we installed x590 instead of d-link - PC1 and PC2 can’t ping each other.

We tryed EXOS  local-proxy-arp feature, but no success.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Hi Alex,

you are right. But in the User Guide the following is mentioned:

After it is configured, the system responds to ARP requests on behalf of the device as long as the following conditions are satisfied:

  • The valid IP ARP request is received on a router interface.

https://documentation.extremenetworks.com/exos_30.7/GUID-60C7D2C2-F40E-4FD6-BDEF-1FCB9BA6E050.shtml

That’s why I had this idea.

Hi, Stefan!

But what reason for IPforwarding if clients within 1 subnet?

Thank you!

Hi,

never used this proxy-arp feature but I wonder if it helps when you activate ipforwarding for this VLAN.
