Issues after power cut!

Issues after power cut!

Hello all

We have an extreme stack of 5 switches (X670-48x) but after a power cut to our site one switching is playing up and we are having odd issues which seem to point to slow networking.

The switch that seem to be affected (Slot 5, Role Standby) is no longer needed as we had re-routed all connections away from this switch with a view to removing it, I would now like to remove it from the stack but as this stack is our core switch, I am a little nervous about running this command (unconfigure slot “slot-number”) assuming this is the correct way of doing this?

I am looking for some advice please?

  • Do I run this command from?
  • Telnet session to the stack?
  • Telnet session direct to the Master node?
  • A console cable directly connected to the master node?

  • What happens when the switch is removed
  • Do the remaining switches reboot?
  • Is the configuration still validate on Switches 1 through 4?

Any and all advice would be much appreciated.

The 670G2 has lots of problems with the flash. Check for errors relating to that. A complete reformat may solve this. I seem to recall there is a BIOS fix/upgrade for this platform as well.

Removing it should not cause any problems, but make sure all stack links are good before breaking anything! Switches 1-4 should be OK after removing #5. There are docs describing the process in detail (I'm sure). Connect via a serial cable if possible. Telnet is never an option, but SSH is...
