Packet capture - mirror vs debug packet capture

Packet capture - mirror vs debug packet capture

Hello!

Packets are tagged in port.

When I try to make mirror (configure mirror Test add port 1 ingress-and-egress) - I can’t see 802.1Q tag

When I try to make packet capture with “#debug packet capture ports 1 …” I can see 802.1Q

Why I can’t see VLAN tag from mirrored traffic?

Thank you!

Hello, Chris!

About your comments - based on that I have to catch tagged traffic with mirror.

But mirrored traffic without 802.1Q tag.

Hi,

Can you provide the output of “show port 1 info detail”?

One of these points below may be in play:

The following conditions describe tagging of mirrored packets:
• Untagged ingress mirrored traffic egresses the monitor port(s) untagged. Tagged ingress mirrored
traffic egresses the monitor port tagged.
• Egress mirrored traffic always egresses the monitor port tagged.
• On ExtremeSwitching series switches, all traffic ingressing the monitor port or ports is tagged only if
the ingress packet is tagged. If the packet arrives at the ingress port as untagged, the packet
egresses the monitor port or ports as untagged

Thanks,

Chris Thompson
