Port bounces up and down once after reboot: X670G2-48x-4q

After reboot of the switch some port are bouncing up and down one time. We don't see any reason for this and it's causing traffic loss for us.

11/16/2016 13:19:22.61 Port 49 link UP at speed 40 Gbps and full-duplex
11/16/2016 13:19:20.21 Port 10 link UP at speed 10 Gbps and full-duplex
11/16/2016 13:19:20.21 Port 9 link UP at speed 10 Gbps and full-duplex
11/16/2016 13:19:20.58 Port 9 link down - Local fault
11/16/2016 13:19:21.49 Port 10 link down - Local fault
11/16/2016 13:19:24.75 Port 10 link UP at speed 10 Gbps and full-duplex
11/16/2016 13:19:24.75 Port 9 link UP at speed 10 Gbps and full-duplex
11/16/2016 13:19:33.11 Port 49 link down - Local fault
11/16/2016 13:19:35.93 Port 49 link UP at speed 40 Gbps and full-duplex

Is this some known behaviour or do anyone have a idea what could cause such behaviour.

If you wonder we are running test activitys within mobile networks and this is part of some testcases.

Andres, I guess the switches are not in production, so in case if you can change the configuration and reboot the switch at will then i would suggest to isolate the issue with below steps. remove the ports 9,10 from all the VLAN's loop back the ports 9 and 10 using the same cable used in port 9 or port 10. reboot the switch and see if the ports are flapping. Try the same on the Telecom equipment. This could give a fair idea where the issue is. I would get back if i find any such case is recorded before.

Sorry if was a bit vague in my question. 🙂

Connected are ericsson telecom equipment under test.

The ports only bounces up and down one time after reboot of the switch.
Port 9-10 is a LACP LAG.
EXOS 16.1.3.6

And we dont know if it's the switch causing the problem, it can just as well be a problem in the other end but as it's only ocures after the reboot of the extreme-switch we started to look there.

Hi Anders,
  1. What is the device connected to the ports 9 and 10?
  2. How often the ports are flapping?
  3. Are the ports 9 and 10 are part of a Link Aggregation Group?
  4. What is the Exos version running on the switch?
For more information on the fault detection process please use below link to find the article:

To isolate the issue with layer 1 please check below steps:
  • Please reseat the SFP module and check the status.
  • Please move the problematic links to another port to see whether ports are still flapping or not.
  • Please check for any errors on the port using the command “# show port rx errors” and “# show port tx errors”.
  • Please check the same in other end of the device connected to the ports 9 and 10
