Same Phone, Same LLDP Config. One detecting Voice VLAN the other not?

Same Phone, Same LLDP Config. One detecting Voice VLAN the other not?

Anonymous

HI

Have a strange issue with Mitel phones that seem to be same model, same firmware, but some are detecting the Voice VLAN via LLDP, whereas others are not, yet config is identical.

In fact I can’t see any different between the two, but yet the majority consistently wont work, whereas some will?

Wondering if anyone has any ideas?

You can see below one assigns a policy, the other says unknown.

So did a lot more testing. When the phone is put into the Voice VLAN untagged, it will not get an IP address, put a PC in it will.

When looking at a packet capture you see Discover and Offer to the phone. When a PC you see full DORA.

If you manually give the phone an IP address its not reachable on the network, yet FDB and ARP tables show entries for it.

There is a handful of phones that work, same config, same ports, same model of phones, same phone firmware?

Moving working phones to other ports gives mixed results?

Very baffling how the issue only seems to stick with the majority of phones, PC’s fine. Move phones back on the original legacy X440’s, phones work fine. Remove all the configuration on the port on the 5520, so just VLAN, still an issue?

Thought the problem might be to do with FA, but disabled LLDP on the Mitel phone, still same issue?

Many thanks in advance

Hi Martin,

I’m working with Mitel Phones (67xxi) on ERS (not yet 55xx series).

The setup used is LLDP-MED+Voice VLAN tagged on the switch.

The LLDP must be enabled on the Mitel Phone and the phone will tag automatically the voice VLAN.

I suggest to factory reset the phone as any manual changes on the phone are persistent and have a higher priority.
