Uplink between two X695 with 100Gb

Trying to uplink two X695s, not stack, via QSFP with 100Gb. According to Extreme doc (https://extreme-networks.my.site.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000106266) ports 51 and 56 are 100Gb default and that ports 49, 50, 55, 60 can be 40G or 100G configured by port speed command.

When connecting the first switch on port 51 and the other on 55 (on the second switch 51 and 56 are already used) using the port speed to set to 100Gb, the link will not come up, the cables are spec'd correctly according to the website purchased from. If we set the partition on the first switch to 1x40Gb and set the speed on the second switch to 40Gb the link comes up fine.

First switch has Advanced Edge licence and the second has Core but as far as I can see there are no restrictions on bandwidth with the Edge licence? Any ideas gratefully received.
