X460-G2 VIM-2q : Can this be used with fan-out cables to give 8x10G

Hi folks,

Quick question...

Is it possible to use the QSFP VIM-2q ports as 4x 10G ports (as is possible, for example, with the X670's 40G ports) in an X460-G2?

The reason I'm asking is that the X460-G2 datasheet says that the maximum number of 10G ports available on an X460-G2 is 6 (for a -24x switch), but am hoping that I can get an extra 8 using a VIM-2q.

Thanks

Paul.

You can do 6 with 4 in the front and with a VIM-2x or VIM-2t for the extra 2.

Thanks for the confirmation of that, Brandon. I'll just tell the customer he needs to buy some more X670s 🙂

And extremely good in price . We are planning to use it as 10G aggregation switch, L2 only, in Wireless infrastructure networks. They do support routing, but that should be looked at carefully as performance might not be enough.

Yep. It doesn't have the port buffer of the x670 but it is 10G
