Hi, I have an VSP8400 that we are changing our WAN connection which requires me to connect it to an ERS4926 as an intermediary (We are implementing Fabric Extend VID which requires an external switch to allow the SPBM translated BVID and wan to share the uplink). The problem is that there is no active port on the VSP only on the ERS that is using SPBM to trunk it back. With no active ports on the VSP, it looks like the IP interface is down (no arp, can’t ping, etc). Is there a way to force it up like in the cisco worlds no autostate?
Thanks
Jon

Jon,
From the “show isis adj” the VSP 8400 only sees the ERS while the ERS sees 2 VSP8400.
I see that the VSP8400 is with vIST. The VSP8400 should see the other VSP8400 to be able to synchronize a lot of info concerning the traffic.
Did you cut art of the info?
If the VSP status is up (check with “show virt”) the vlan interface show come up.
As a temporary solution, I suggest to create a VRRP address on the VLAN you are looking for.
With this trick the ip interface will stay up

Hi, I’ll try to provide what I have, I wound up having to hard wire the connection to the the link up. but I need to get the SPBM connection working as I need that 10Gb port for our redundant WAN connection.
Diagram:
VSP8400 ----- SPBM Trunk --- ERS4826
On the 8400 - all I have defined is a port based VLAN, an IP on that vlan, and an i-sid assigned to the vlan, no physical ports defined as members of the VLAN
On the 4826 - The vlan is defined as a port based vlan, an i-sid is assigned and a physical port 2/50 assigned to it (this is a tagged port)
Here is the info as requested, I can’t post full, but I hope I post what you need
8400 - Show isis

Jon,
A small drawing of the topology will help to understand.
Here some commands to debug, can you share the output of both VSP and ERS?
show isis
show isis spbm
show isis interface
show isis adjacency
show vlan i-sid
show auto nm
show lldp nei
show run
