Does CloudIQ Controller support connecting to a specific SSID via QR Code?

Hi everyone,

I've been puzzled by a problem for a long time regarding user convenience, as I'm often challenged by clients who request that Extreme's wireless network system offers login methods similar to other brands. The most common request is to log in by scanning a QR Code. Is there a possibility for us to achieve this functionality natively within our system?

We do not have a QR login function that I'm aware of, but if you open a feature request with us for this functionality we can get it on the roadmap.

In the mean time, I'd suggest using one network policy for your entire campus if possible, that way users won't have to connect to different SSIDs throughout their day, they can simply roam between APs on the same SSID.

If that's not possible, at least trying to use the same kind of SSID (PSK, PPSK, Radius, etc) across your campus so users don't have to switch between authentication methods between classes and once they've signed in for the first time, their device should remember the SSID and take it from there.

Sorry but I don't unterstand what the client tries to tell us > maybe he should describe in more detail what is going on.

I.e. the exact procedure that he is currently running thru (user experience using the WLAN) and what he don't like about it and/or how he thinks it could be improved.

Hi, no sure whether it's within the system but if it's an open or PSK SSID why not connect with your mobile phone and then in (Android) > Settings > Connections > WiFi > Settings Icon for the connceted WLAN > QR code.

Save it and provide it to the users or print it out and leave it at the reception desk.

"For a more convenient life, especially during university, manually switching between different types of SSIDs in various classrooms is an absolute nightmare!"

This was directly conveyed to me by the client. While I personally don't see the difficulty in manually switching on a mobile phone, if such a need exists, there's a potential solution to be found.
