Two APs of 100 don't work - strange LEDs blinking

Hello, everybody!

I have two 3825i APs, which don't work.

There is constant LED blinking on the APs like blinking at the switch (X430-8p) side. There are three more same APs at this switch and they work as expected. I have recorded a video. Please, see the link below. All other ~100 APs at other switches work well.

https://cloud.mail.ru/public/Gi7w/ZQkBgE5mn

On the controller I have a log message:

05/17/16 16:29:08 Minor Config Manager Config Manager has failed to process a request. Config Manager is still running, and system functionality is not impaired. Error Details: Configuration has been resent the maximum number times, but no acknowledge has been received. Releasing AP[15244979085J0000]

But I am not sure that this message is related to those fault APs.

Please, help me to bring these APs to work.

Many thanks in advance,

Ilya

Hello,

I have already restarted the APs this way. No result. They don't get an IP address. You mean that only way is to reset them using 'cset factory' command over console?

Thanks, Ilya

Ilya

If the AP doesn't get an IP address, do you see it request one on your DHCP server? Maybe the lease database is full?

Perhaps a port mirror on the switch to a sniffer might help see if anything is sent/received on that port from the AP?

Does the switch learn the MAC of the AP on its port and in the correct vlan?

Could you swap a working AP cable/port to the non working one see if this changes anything?

Beyond that I would contact the GTAC for further help.

Telnet is not available on 38xx AP's , so ssh is a good suggestion to factory reset. Also there is a small pin you can hold for 20 sec at the back of the AP which will do also the factory reset.
What discovery method do you use? DNS? DHCP? Or same-subnet multicast? If mutlicast and the switch port AP connected to has igmp snooping enabled it will not be able to find the controller.

Discovery method is DNS. All other APs at this switch work well. The port configuration is same. Ok, I'll try to reset them.

Thank you.

You can set poe off at the port and turn on poe again. If the problem persists try to connecto to de ap (telnet or ssh) and type the 'cset factory' to reset the ap.
